Russell Johnson is an Arizona native landscape artist. Through painting, drawing, and photography
he finds outlets to release expressions of a mysterious landscape. Russell exhibits his
work at the Frame & I Gallery in Prescott, AZ where he actively participates in shows.
He has served as an intern at the University Museum of Art, assisting in art exhibitions
and main events. His work is part of various private collections. Russell has recently
acquired his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona in May of 2003.
Russell grew up in Prescott, AZ and enjoyed the closeness of the outdoors. Today, he is an
avid hiker, seeking out trails to explore. On these explorations, Russell captures subjects
for future paintings, drawings, or just as they are: photographs. Some of his favorite
places to hike include: the Grand Canyon, Lockett Meadow, West Clear Creek, Wet Beaver Creek,
Fossil Creek, Spruce Mountain, Thumb Butte, Granite Mountain, Lynx Lake, Watson Lake, and the
Granite Dells to name a few.
Russell’s personal vision strikes a deeper emotional chord through spiritual beauty.
His images express moral goodness and optimism by stimulating the imagination.
